Monkey is a big, beautiful, 8 year old (as of 2018), tabby male. He was surrendered to the Guelph Humane Society when his owner's newborn baby developed serious allergies. Unfortunately Monkey was very unhappy in the shelter environment as he did not get the affection he craved and he was taken intro foster care through GRAB.

Monkey, more affectionately called Monk the Hunk, is the resident grump at his current foster home. Don’t be fooled by his perma-scowl though! Monkey is an affectionate cat that likes to be at the center of attention. After a few months in his new home Monkey has visibly become more comfortable and playful around his foster mommies. He has an adorable permanent scowl but rest assure, he can be affectionate and enjoys playing with various toys. Monkey needs a lot of attention or he gets frustrated – he hates knowing something is going on in a part of the house he can't get to so he needs a home where he will have full access to the whole house.

Monkey is healthy and has been fully vetted. His teeth have a bit of plaque, but not unusual for his age. His fur was a bit dry upon arrival but a new diet of healthier food and an occasional brushing has already made a difference. He loves his toy mousey and plastic spring. He is a chatty boy and will happily carry on a conversation with you. His meow has a beautiful “puurrrupp” quality.

In his previous foster home Monkey got along very well with the house dog, but not with the house cat. He would do best in a home with a confident, but polite dog, or no other pets, and a family with lots of love to give.

Monkey is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed rescue. The adoption donation is $175. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. Please fill out our Adoption Form if you are interested. You can also reach us by email at
