**Rocket found his forever home in Cambridge where he will have a shorkie sister and as many cuddles as he could possibly want! (October 2017)**

Rocket is an incredibly sweet, 4-6 year-old, long-haired chihuahua. Rocket was found as a stray, but has clearly lived in a home before. Rocket is very affectionate and loves people. He's looking for an adult-only home where he will have a lap to snooze on as much as possible!

Rocket has big bursts of energy, but settles very well in the house. He needs a couple of short walks, or one longer walk each day. Rocket LOVES his crate and will put himself to bed if he's overwhelmed. He is happy left alone during the day, and wouldn't mind an owner who works away from home, as long as he got lots of love in the evening.

Rocket's favourite activity is cuddling and he's wonderful at it! He curls up in his foster mom's lap every opportunity he gets. He also loves to be held and carried around. Nothing is better than a belly rub though! A gentle tummy skritch will be sure to put him to sleep in no time at all.

Rocket had some minor house training issues when he arrived, which he has overcome, but a new owner would need to be aware that he'll need frequent potty breaks when he first settles in. He never has accidents in his crate, however, so should always be crated when left alone, and at night.

Rocket can be a bit picky about food, but does enjoy his meals. He needs a mix of dry and wet food. He required several teeth to be removed at intake so his dental health will need to be monitored. He has had a full cleaning of the teeth that remain.

Rocket has some touch sensitivity issues which may be a surprise as he loves to be petted and cuddled. He can be reactive with humans only in very specific situations such as when eating. He is not food aggressive and he doesn't resource guard, however. His foster mom is happy to discuss these issues with anyone interested in him. He is improving leaps and bounds every day, but a new owner would have to be aware of the potential triggers and work up to them slowly. For this reason, we recommend he goes to an adult-only home, or a home with older, responsible children.

Rocket loves other dogs (to the point of sometimes being overexcited!) and thinks that the resident dog is the best thing in the world. He is quietly interested in cats and has let the resident cat warm up to him at her own pace. Rocket is easily dissuaded from things he's not supposed to do/have with a vocal correction and responds well to verbal praise as a reward.

Rocket is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Animal Rescue. The adoption donation is $375. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. Please fill out our Adoption Form if you are interested.
